Good magazine info graphics provide some of the most fun I have on the internet! http://awesome.good.is/transparency/web/0911/globalemissions/flash.html
This raises the issue about who is actually responsible for stopping climate change. Can the biggest emitters of CO2 actually do anything about it?
On another note: Apply to be an ecorep! The link on our website is to a word document with the application and requirements. We would love to have you!

Rethinking our Laundry
Ever realize that the way you dry your clothes can help conserve energy? It actually makes a bigger difference than you think.
Check out this NY Times Opinion piece on one college girl's attempt to change the way her school dried their clothing.

What the EcoReps are Reading this Week
It's all about the food.October is Food Month for the EcoReps, so we are reading up on some of the big moments in global food history, starting with the Green Revolution and Mr. Norman Borlaug - the man responsible for lots of the science behind the Green Revolution.
Here's the first article about Borlaug.
And here's the second about global food security today.
10 to the 100th
This is a really neat project from Google.
Google asked the world how it could be improved, and a year later they have lots of good ideas and project proposals. Google is going to give $ 10 million to the top 10 projects. And WE get to vote on what projects we want to fix the world.
So go vote and make the world better!

Park Yourself at 119th and Broadway THIS Friday!
Join the Barnard EcoReps ALL DAY on Friday, September 18th at the nearest parking space to the Barnard gates. We're taking it over to create our very own park! This year's theme is "EcoRespite," so come chill with us and enjoy music, food (made by solar oven!), games, face painting, yoga, group nap sessions, and good conversation.
Park(ing) Day is an international event that reclaims parking spots and transforms them into engaging, people-friendly public spaces for one day a year.
Park(ing) Day NYC is a New York City Streets Renaissance collaboration which supports the conversion of parking spots throughout New York City's 5 boroughs into human-friendly places for a single day. These small, temporary public spaces provide a breath of relief from the auto-clogged reality of New York City, and aim to spark dialogue about our valuable public space and how we choose to use it.
See you there!
